Great use of lighting and contrast on photo Hula 5-3. The way half of the subject’s face is in the shadows adds some mystery to what the other half of his face looks like and leaves us wondering if there’s a reason why half of him is in the light and the other half is in the dark. The fact that the background is dark highlights his eye and adds a piercing emotion to the photo.

I like contrast in these pictures. The lighting really helped capture these people as individuals. Even though some of the people are smiling, the style of the photos gives it almost a serious tone.
