  • Elizabeth, your pictures of the dancer are gorgeous! The dark shadows contrasted with the few streaks of light bring the focus completely on the dancer himself and make me wonder how the light changes as he moves. It provides mystery and elegance, and the ropes he is working with are captured in just a way to make him almost look like a puppet, being controlled by something off the frame. I like the decision to keep the photos in color too because they are almost a natural sepia effect and bring the differences between the light dancer and the dark background to life. Great job!

  • Elizabeth, the fifth photo of the dancer in the column “at practice” strikes me the most. The way you captured the moving subject in this low light situation with such clarity is impressive, the light source seems to highlight the key parts of the subject creating nice contrast and a feeling of two extremes. I especially like how the light seems to come from a central point, the way it radiates through the photo feels natural. When I first saw this I almost imagined he was floating in space, highlighted by a distant sun. As a side note I find the photo of the well warn dresser pull very intriguing, the shine of the brass seems to tell a story of time passing and days turning into decades as use takes its toll.

  • Content–varied, unexpected, visually appealing

Composition–strong with good approach to subjects, varied point of view, off center framing, fine visual impact

Technique–lighting and tones esp good on dancers, clarity in others images, some good depth of field with wall & pipes

    Aesthetics–strong, varied, appealing
