The Invisible and visible

Pattern: The difference between the birds multicolored feathers and bright red face. His eyes and beak smooth and clear.

Focus: The surroundings with similar colors, a beautiful creature hides.

Texture: Some leaves of different texture, over it all a slight water reflection.

Tonality: The tones of the bird and grass are similar texture and color, as you can see the bird is well camouflaged but stands out by a small red scarf on the back of its head.

Focus: Far away but in focus a robin stands in search of worms.

Shape: Round stone, Square bricks, and a fuzzy lil chipmunk. Many shapes, sitting together with a back drop of green foliage.

Emotion: The feeling of relaxing in the noon day sun after eating a nice little meal. You can see joy and relaxation in this little guys happy expression.

I captured multiple panoramas around campus, most are a combination of 4-8 photos taken at the same time. I used my cameras on board level to make sure the photos where taken at the same height. I chose to do this instead of using a tripod for convenience.

I am considering doing a story about the voyages of 4 friends sailing upon the ocean, recently I completed a trip from Belfast Maine to Marblehead Massachusetts. The trip took 36 hours and involved sailing overnight. During the journey we passed by many beautiful places and saw whales, dolphins and various ocean birds. The story would follow the individuals and the struggles of the crew. The photos bellow are a demonstration of some of the content that I took on the trip. I love taking photos on the ocean, the amount of light and varying conditions make each photo unique.

I used sliders to convey the difference between the HDR and normal versions of the photos. I found that the HDR images seem to increase detail, while also increases light from the source, but decreasing shadow. The settings I used for the following images made the camera capture 5 consecutive photos and layer them.

Evening sun back home in my families extremely messy bathroom, I thought it was interesting how HDR effects the reflections cast by the windows on the wall. As you slide the slider you can see how detail in the window reflections change.

The moon the night after it was full, you can see in the craters how the HDR photo captures more detail and increases over all contrast.

The above image was taken to capture the design and detail of the blue trim around the window. Once I began playing around in Lightroom I realized that by raising the exposure and tweaking the details I could show the room inside. I prefer the window dark, but as a study in post production I think this is a nice example of how much you can change an image with a few simple tools.

This is an image I took a couple years ago in the Abaco islands, the wreck of the Lucky Lady. I noticed that the original image had a well balanced histogram. In the edited version I attempted to balance it further.
