Assignment 5—FrankS

This narrative is about a musician who is struggling to find a way to produce good songs that they are proud of but there always seems to be something in the way. They use alcohol to cope with their problems but also to allow them to produce better music. There are many musicians out there that use addiction and sadness to produce meaningful pieces that people can relate to. This narrative would be an example of this type of musical creation.

The audience for this piece might be people who are interested in dark photography. In the past I have created other videos or photos that have a very dark style and it seems to interest people the most. Most people could relate to something like this because most people have probably struggled with something in their life and coped with it in a negative way. I hope that these photographs can resonate with people like the do with me.

The overall content of this story is that there is a girl who makes herself the same mundane peanut butter and jelly sandwich everyday and never breaks her normal behavior. At this point in her life she is not very happy and wants to break out of her comfort zone and experience new things. The PB&J sandwich serves as an object that represents the girl’s old life and that she constantly wants to go back to that life. Her new life could be represented by another type of sandwich or something else that causes her to experience more. I guess the overall message of the story is that we all have our comfort zones and sometimes its better to be risky rather than stay on the safe side.

The audience for this piece would be anyone who can connect with the concept of struggling to get out of their comfort zones and have new experiences. I think that this would be interesting to explore and interpret because the pictures I took don’t exactly depict the story the way I wanted them too but I think by getting the story more concrete I can mend a narrative that is based around the sandwich. I also think people would be interested in this because this idea is very obscure and interpretive as well as comical which people may find interesting.
